- 40mm bonded polyurethane core
- Thermal break at every section joint
- Full perimeter seals, all four edges
An insulated garage door has a foam core between two skins rather than a single sheet of steel or aluminium. In Brakpan people buy one for temperature, for quiet, and for a third reason that is particular to open ground: a single-skin door on an exposed elevation drums in wind, and an insulated panel simply does not.
Insulated garage doors we supply in Brakpan
- Insulated steel sectional doors, the standard and strongest option.
- Insulated aluminium-faced doors where the finish matters on the elevation.
- Insulated roller shutter doors for low-headroom garages that still need the performance.
- Full perimeter seals, without which the insulation in the panel does very little.
Garages that have become rooms
Converted garages are common right across Brakpan, from the older suburbs where the garage became a workshop decades ago to the newer homes where it is a gym or an office. Where the space is used, the door is the largest uninsulated surface in the room and it usually faces the sun. An insulated panel with proper seals changes that space more than anything else the same money would buy.
Noise, wind and drumming
A single-skin panel on an exposed elevation resonates in wind, and on a bad night it is loud enough to be a household complaint. A foam-cored panel is far more rigid and the noise largely disappears. It also cuts road and street noise, which matters on the busier routes through town.
Seals matter as much as the core
An insulated panel with a fifteen-millimetre gap under it is a compromised door. Bottom, side and head seals are part of the specification rather than an accessory, and on open ground they are what keeps wind-driven dust and rain out at floor level.
Stiffness on wide openings
A foam-cored panel is far more rigid than a single skin, which on a wide double means it tracks better, dents less in hail and holds its shape under wind pressure. On a five-metre exposed opening that stiffness is a structural benefit rather than a comfort one.
Insulated doors for business
Temperature-controlled areas in the food and process buildings around Vulcania need insulated curtains with proper sealing, and often fast operation so the opening is not standing open while the temperature leaves. That is a different specification from a domestic door and we quote it as one.
Weight, balance and the operator
Insulated doors are heavier. The balance components are rated to the finished door and the operator is sized on the real mass. Fitting an insulated door onto hardware set up for a single-skin door is the most common reason one fails early.
What an insulated garage door costs in Brakpan
More than a single-skin door, and worth it where the garage is used for something or where the elevation is exposed. Priced on opening size, facing material, finish and automation. We will tell you when you do not need one.
