- Insulated aluminium or galvanised slat
- Openings to 5 000mm wide
- Remote and battery backup available
A roll-up garage door coils into a barrel above the opening instead of running back along the ceiling. In Brakpan that solves two problems at once: the older mining-era housing has garages with almost no ceiling space, and the many converted carports and added garages have openings that a rigid panelled door simply will not sit in.
Roll-up garage doors we supply in Brakpan
- Galvanised steel roll-up doors for durability and low maintenance.
- Aluminium roll-up doors where a lighter curtain suits the opening and the motor.
- Powder-coated finishes matched to the house or the complex specification.
- Single and double widths, built to the measured opening.
Roll-up garage doors for low-headroom garages
The barrel needs a few hundred millimetres above the opening and nothing behind it. That makes a roll-up door the practical answer in the older Brakpan garages through Central, Brenthurst, Anzac and Labore, and it leaves the ceiling free for storage.
Doors for openings that are out of square
A curtain running in guides will track in an opening that a sectional door would bind in, which is exactly why we fit so many roll-up doors on converted carports and owner-built garages here. We measure the reveal at top, middle and bottom, and we check what the guides will fix into before quoting, because the fixing is the part that usually needs attention on those buildings.
Manual or motorised
Most roll-up doors are motorised with a tube motor inside the barrel. It is a tidy installation with nothing hanging from the ceiling and it runs quietly. Every one we fit has a manual override, and we fit battery backup where the household cannot be caught out by an outage.
Security on a roll-up garage door
Guide depth, end locks and the bottom rail do the work. A motorised door with a locking drive position cannot be pushed up from outside. Manual doors get proper locking rather than a token catch.
Wind on exposed garage openings
On the open edges of town a double roll-up door catches real pressure. End locks are standard on our doors and on the wider exposed openings we fit wind locks as well, because a curtain pulled out of its guides in a storm is a far more expensive afternoon than the locks cost.
Insulation and weather
A single-skin roll-up curtain is not insulated, and we say so rather than implying otherwise. Where a garage is used as a room, an insulated sectional door is the better product. Where it is a garage, a roll-up door with good bottom seals keeps out the dust and driven rain.
